About KAONE Travels & Events
We are a Tanzanian-owned travel agency. The word "kaone" means "go and see" in KiSwahili — an invitation to explore, connect, and discover Tanzania in ways that leave a lasting impact.
We craft travel experiences that invite you to uniquely explore and discover Tanzania’s exceptional and pristine resources, beautiful scenery, and rich history, culture, and crafts.
Our curated itineraries span both renowned destinations — such as Kilimanjaro, Serengeti, Zanzibar, and Ngorongoro — and often-overlooked gems like the Swahili coast, Mahale Mountains, Ruaha, and Nyerere national parks. Beyond landscapes, we explore Tanzania’s conservation efforts and celebrate the diverse heritage of indigenous communities and historical migrations from Arabia and India.
-
Our mission is threefold:
Firstly, to accompany and guide you in reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Secondly, to authentically showcase Tanzania through our travel experiences — hence, our motto "kaone Tanzania," meaning "go and see Tanzania."
Lastly, we aim to create meaningful memories and rewarding careers for our mountain and wildlife safari guides and assistants.
With KAONE, you directly employ three to seven travel professionals who advise, support, guide, and even cook for you around the clock on any trip.
-
The inception of KAONE was fueled by a trio of motivations:
To accompany and guide you in your ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro.
To authentically showcase Tanzania, encapsulated in the phrase "kaone Tanzania" — go and see Tanzania.
And, equally significant, to create meaningful memories and rewarding careers for our team of mountain and wildlife safari guides and assistants.
Every KAONE trip directly employs three to seven travel professionals dedicated to advising, supporting, guiding, and even cooking for you.
-
Beyond exploration, KAONE is committed to addressing a historical imbalance. Climbing Kilimanjaro has long relied on trained mountain guides and porters, facing challenges such as low wages, seasonal variations, and inadequate support. This echoes a historical context reminiscent of Muini Amani, a cook and carrier from 19th Century Pangani, Tanzania, who supported Dr. Hans Meyer, the first European to summit Mount Kilimanjaro.
Today, we aim to rectify this system, ensuring fair compensation, access to necessities, and opportunities for personal and professional growth for our team.
-
KAONE is more than a travel experience; it's a commitment to generating financial benefits that return to Tanzania and its people. To achieve this, we operate as a fully Tanzanian-owned and operated entity. Our team of travel advisors, mountain guides, and wildlife safari assistants are all Tanzanians.
As we grow, our commitment deepens — with plans to directly employ the majority of our staff, offering further training opportunities, health insurance coverage, and a reasonable minimum income throughout the year. We envision additional benefits such as pension or loan schemes to support our team in the long term.

What Travelers Say About KAONE
-
“Had a 10/10 experience with KAONE Travel during our Serengeti trip. The team were so wonderful, informative, and very patient with us from start to finish. Our guides were passionate about their work and shared fascinating insights about the wildlife and local culture.
Not only did we get to see some of the Big Five, but they arranged for some of the most unique accommodations — Moyo Tented Camp by far being my favourite. Literally slept in the wild and it was so comfortable. They tailored the trip to our needs and even helped organise a birthday surprise for my sister.
KAONE Travel made our Serengeti experience seamless, memorable, and beyond expectations. Highly recommend!”

"I think the safari was absolutely incredible and made this the trip of a lifetime! I loved every hotel we stayed in — the facilities were great, the food and entertainment were lovely.
Moyo was incredible! The best hotel of the entire experience — it made the trip for me. I also appreciated how informative the team was about both the history and the animals. The three of you together as a team are wonderful!
The only downside was being split into two cars — one group got to see a live lion hunt, which the other missed. Keeping vehicles closer could help avoid this in the future.
Overall, it was an amazing experience, and I would recommend KAONE Travels & Events to anyone wanting to do a safari in Tanzania."
